SALEM, Ore. (KATU) — Avelo Airlines announced it will close its base at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) by the end of 2025. The airline plans to reduce its operations to one aircraft on August 12, before fully exiting the base on December 2, 2025.
Avelo Airlines will only have one aircraft at Hollywood Burbank Airport before eventually closing its Southern California operations in December.
The exit of Avelo Airlines from Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County in August brings with it gaps in markets that Santa Rosa airport officials are working to fill. Outreach is underway to Alaska Airlines about picking up the Boise and Palm Springs flights, and to Delta Air Lines about flights to Salt Lake City, according to Airport Manager Jon Stout.
The airline informed the Statesman Journal that it is exiting the Salem market because it is closing its base in Burbank, California, by Dec. 2, as Airline Geeks reports. Its plan is to exit the West Coast market and refocus on the East Coast.
