Oregon secured a waiver for an additional year of football eligibility for Boettcher, who did not join the team until his sophomore season

Boettcher announced his return for one more season of college football on Tuesday night. The Ducks had been pursuing a waiver from the NCAA for the linebacker to play a fourth and final year of football, and it appears to have been granted.

The University of Oregon linebacker, who was drafted by the Houston Astros after his NCAA baseball eligibility expired, can report to spring training or return to college to play football.
