The U.S. embassy in Qatar emailed U.S. citizens in the Gulf country on Monday recommending that they shelter in place until further notice, triggering a slew of messages from various Doha-based institutions to employees and students while Qatar maintained the situation was stable.

The US Embassy in Qatar issued an emergency “shelter in place” Monday for all Americans living there, soon before Iran attacked American military bases there. The embassy said it was issuing the alert “out of an abundance of caution,

"Out of an abundance of caution we recommend American citizens shelter in place until further notice," the U.S. Embassy in Doha, Qatar, said Monday amid concerns about retaliation from Iran.
