The judge tasked with weighing in on the government’s reach into higher education in Harvard University’s recent lawsuit against the Trump administration is an experienced prosecutor and jurist with a history of taking on tough cases – including those involving both the Ivy League and the president.

On March 18th Mr Trump labelled the judge a “Radical Left Lunatic” and demanded his impeachment. His supposed high crime or misdemeanour? Temporarily blocking the administration from flying hundreds of mostly Venezuelan migrants to a mega-prison in El Salvador without due process and under dubious legal authority.
