A police officer was shot by a man, who police say fled a traffic stop, in North Philadelphia. Police said the man then took his own life. The incident started around 9 p.m. Tuesday when two officers attempted to pull the man over near 22nd Street and Lehigh Avenue in Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion neighborhood.

A Philadelphia Highway Patrol officer was shot in the hand during a car pursuit. The suspect fled, crashed, and later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The injured officer is recovering.
