Rural hospitals in Arkansas will have to ready themselves for some major changes coming in the next few years that could mean savings for the federal government, but fewer people with health care coverage.

If enacted into law, Hillsdale Hospital CEO Jeremiah J. Hodshire said, the "Big Beautiful Bill" could force the closure of rural hospital birthing centers or even entire hospital systems.

Millions will lose Medicaid coverage, hospitals’ uncompensated work will increase and insurers will lose big business.
