Decision day is here for one of the top-rated recruits BYU football has ever pursued. Five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons, whose first offer came from the Cougars, will announce his commitment Tuesday morning.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Ryder Lyons committed to the Cougars on Tuesday, choosing BYU over Oregon, USC, Ole Miss and more. Lyons explained that he will not be playing for BYU as a true freshman because he will spend the year serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Lyons threw for 3,011 yards with 46 touchdowns and six interceptions as a junior at Folsom. He also rushed 118 times for 585 yards and 14 more scores. Once considered a prime candidate to stay in-state and play for USC, he now heads to BYU — after he serves a one-year mission.
