Many in Middle Tennessee woke up Thursday to several volleys of tornado warnings, lightning, thunder and a lot of rain as round after round of severe weather blew through the region. At least four people are dead in Tennessee,

A flood watch is in effect for portions of Middle Tennessee Wednesday through Sunday. Some areas could receive eight inches of rainfall, which could lead to major flooding.

At least seven people have been killed in a wide swath of violent storms and tornadoes that hit the South and Midwest.

(Reuters) -The National Weather Service warned on Thursday of "generational" floods in the southern and Midwestern United States, as storms ripped across a swath of the country from Texas to Michigan, flinging down hail and whipping up tornadoes.

Forecasters warned of widespread damaging winds, very large hail and tornadoes, from Texas to the East Coast starting on Sunday.

The northwest corner of Alabama has a low risk of experiencing a severe storm or two today. However, forecasters think storms will most likely stay northwest of the state. There will be a better chance for severe weather this weekend, and it will include most of Alabama. Storm Prediction Center

Strong winds, possible coastal flooding, and severe storms are forecast for Acadiana. Stay prepared for gusty conditions, excessive rainfall, and potential flooding from Saturday into Sunday.

Much of North Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth region, could see strong to severe storms Thursday morning.
