Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah completed 400 wickets in international cricket during the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, becoming the 10th Indian to achieve this feat. His outstanding performance included 4/50 in 11 overs during Bangladesh's first innings.

Bangladesh were alive in the game and fighting when off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz troubled the Indian batters with a five-wicket haul while defending a target of just 145 runs. In his five-for, Miraz dismissed Pujara, Gill, Kohli, Pant and Axar and had India reeling at 74/7. But, his effort went in vain as Iyer and Ashwin took India home.

Jasprit Bumrah has taken 4-50 to help skittle Bangladesh for 149 and give India a first-innings lead of 227 runs on Day 2 of the first test.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss on Thursday and decided to send India in to bat in the first cricket test. India was playing a test for the first time since March when it beat England 4-1 in a five-match series in India.
