Etel Haxhiaj is facing a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery on a police officer and interfering with a police officer. Body camera footage released by the city does not appear to show the councilor striking an officer.

The councilor accused police of using excessive force when they arrested two people at the scene of an ICE raid in Worcester last month.

A Worcester City councilor is facing charges for her alleged conduct during an federal immigration operation back in May. Police confirm that District 5 Councilor Etel Haxhiaj was charged following an ICE arrest on Eureka Street on May 8. Police did not specify what charges she’s facing or when she will appear in court.
