Cooley and his wife, Louise, purchased more than 400 acres in Orchard, west of Houston and south of Simonton, in the 1960s, said Vikki Vines, Saturday’s auctioneer and owner of Gallery Auctions.

Gallery Auctions is hosting the event, which features items from the collection of the late Houston heart surgeon and Medical Center legend, Dr. Denton Cooley.
