Speaker Mike Johnson said Sunday the House will vote this week on a three-month stopgap funding bill to keep the federal government open through Dec. 20. If the measure goes into effect, the government would avert a shutdown that is set to begin at the start of next month without congressional action.

N.Y., announced that the government will be funded for another three months, thanks to an agreement that avoided a government shutdown.

The House is expected to vote on the funding extension, known as a continuing resolution or CR, on Wednesday. The Senate will take it up shortly thereafter in time to avoid a shutdown. It is expected to pass both chambers and be signed by President Joe Biden.
