If you receive a text message from the “Arkansas Vehicle Administration” stating that you have a ticket, local police advise ignoring it.

A reported text scam is making its way through West Virginia. According to a press release, the West Virginia DMV warned community members about a text message payment scam in the Mountain State where the messages ask for payment for an outstanding toll account.

Scam warnings have been issued in multiple states over criminals pretending to be from the Department of Motor Vehicles. The fraud scheme—which sees the attacker issue fake traffic tickets in order to get them to click on an unsafe link—has been reported in Florida,
