HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - The man who shot and killed a Hinds County deputy over the weekend had seven felony arrests, 18 misdemeanor arrests and zero convictions at the time of his death. This according to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones.

Funeral arrangements have been made for the Hinds County deputy who was killed in the line of duty. There will be a public visitation for Deputy Martin Shields, Jr., on March 1, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said a deputy has died after being shot on Midway Road in Terry. He said the deputy was responded to a domestic call for service. According to the sheriff, an unidentified male was also found deceased inside of the residence.
