President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff ended the Israel -Hamas ceasefire and hostage talks early in Doha, Qatar, on Thursday, accusing the Palestinian terrorist group of acting selfishly during this week’s negotiations.
The chief Hamas negotiator is Khalil al-Hayya, a Hamas official based in Qatar. He served as a deputy to Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader who helped plot the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
The U.S. has withdrawn from Doha ceasefire talks after Hamas' response showed a "lack of desire" for an agreement. Israel also pulled negotiators amid escalating demands.
