When the Superdome officially opened in 1975, it was known as the Louisiana Superdome. The stadium held this moniker for 36 years until the naming rights were sold to Mercedes-Benz. The car manufacturer had the naming rights for a decade when the stadium was renamed Caesar's Superdome.

The distinctive domed building, turning 50 this year, is known for hosting the Super Bowl, but to locals, it’s also “the city’s living room.”
