The Wisconsin Supreme Court has struck down the state’s 176-year-old abortion ban. The court’s liberal majority ruled 4-3 on Wednesday that the ban is no longer valid because newer abortion restrictions superseded it.

Women in Wisconsin will continue to have access to abortion services under a new ruling from the state's highest court.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling doesn't prevent additional court challenges or prohibit lawmakers from passing an abortion ban in the future.
