Windows Update shows error 0x80070643 in Windows 10? Microsoft has a very simple and genius solution for it.

Microsoft is pushing out a Windows 10 KB5001716 update used to improve Windows Update that is ironically failing to install, showing 0x80070643 errors.

The infamous "0x80070643 - ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE" issue is back with one of the new Windows 10 updates KB5048239. Thankfully, there is a fix.

Microsoft is working to fix a known issue causing 0x80070643 errors when installing the KB5034441 security update that patches the CVE-2024-20666 BitLocker vulnerability.

It's not like there aren't already updates performed by Windows Update that basically wipe the OS and take 30 minutes or more to install, and just installing a new WinRE version takes only moments.

Despite the message, Microsoft says this error does not impact the update or the device's functionality.
