President Trump’s White House has repeatedly shown that it’s not shy about leaning into internet jokes and memes that stir controversy, even on the administration’s official social media accounts. This past weekend was no different.

It was also the second time in three days that the White House shared an AI-generated image of Trump that stoked controversy. Trump shared an image on his Truth Social account depicting himself as the pope, after jokingly stating he should succeed the late Pope Francis.
