Arne Slot has said he hopes to continue working with captain Virgil van Dijk "for a long time" amid continued uncertainty over his long-term Liverpool future.

Arne Slot addressed Virgil van Dijk's future at Liverpool and insisted that he looks forward to a long partnership with the "outstanding" defender.

"He deserves every compliment he gets," Slot said. "He's been outstanding for this club for so many years and since I've been working here, he's been outstanding for me. He wants, like all the others, to make it a great season.
