HAYWARD — BART closed its Hayward station on Tuesday morning, as police investigated an incident at the station. Few details were available, but BART officials said police detained two people after initial reports indicated there may have been a stabbing somewhere on station property.

The Hayward BART station was closed for several hours due to a possible stabbing there Tuesday morning, transit officials said.

HAYWARD, Calif. - A payment dispute at the Hayward BART station on Tuesday morning escalated into a stabbing, authorities said. The incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. near the entrance turnstile, where a rider who did not pay was confronted by another rider who had paid.

Two people have been detained in connection to a possible stabbing/battery incident at the Hayward BART Station, the BART Police Department confirmed to KRON4. One person has been transported to a hospital.

Authorities are investigating a stabbing at the Hayward BART station that started over some sort of altercation.

The Hayward BART station is shut down Tuesday morning due to police activity, the transit agency reported. BART said trains were not stopping at the station during the closure and AC Transit set up a bus service between the Bayfair station in San Leandro and the Hayward station on bus 10 and between Hayward and South Hayward on bus 99.
