The No. 1 seed in the men's bracket at Wimbledon escaped with victory on Monday, July 7 after his opponent was forced to retire with an injury. Jannik Sinner, though, doesn't count the "victory" as a win.

Dimitrov most recently retired from the first round of the French Open with a thigh injury while holding a 6-2, 6-3, 2-6 lead over American Ethan Quinn. He retired from Wimbledon in the fourth round in 2024 with an abductor tear. He trailed Daniil Medvedev, 5-3, in the first set at the time of that injury.

Jannik Sinner is through to the Wimbledon quarterfinals, though not in the way he wanted. Sinner lost the first two sets of his fourth-round match with Grigor Dimitrov on Monday before Dimitrov was forced to retire from the match after suffering an apparent pectoral injury.
