When Howie Roseman acquired Kenny Pickett, the initial idea was that he’d add value as a potential trade piece in April’s NFL draft. More importantly, he’d give Philadelphia an experienced and viable option in case Jalen Hurts had to miss time.

So when Kenny Pickett entered the game last Sunday against the Washington Commanders, the backup quarterback and his top two receivers, Brown and DeVonta Smith, spoke after every series to try to catch up on the little nuances they have developed in their two-way communication with Hurts.

Pickett played for the Steelers for his first two seasons, throwing for 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 25 appearances.
