Francisco Lindor hit a go-ahead homer to start a four-run eighth inning and the New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 6-2 to avoid losing their second home series this season.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post noted that Francisco Lindor "showed a little extra emotion" than fans are used to seeing from the New York Mets shortstop after he hit a go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning of Sunday's 6-2 win over the Chicago Cubs at Citi Field.

Pete Alonso followed with a key insurance run after doubling and scoring on a Mark Vientos RBI single. Then came the exclamation point: Brandon Nimmo crushed a two-run homer off Cubs right-hander Gavin Hollowell, effectively sealing a 6-2 win for New York. Lindor delivered an emotional Mother's Day message after the win.
