Playing in a rain-shortened game on Friday night, the Giants put up nine runs in beating the Yankees. They got five of those runs in the top of the first, marking something they haven't done in nearly 20 years.

The San Francisco Giants are connected to the New York Yankees in Various Ways but never got a series win at Yankee Stadium until Sunday.

The Phillies jumped on the Giants in the first inning Thursday and let Cristopher Sanchez do much of the rest. With a 6-4 win at Citizens Bank Park, the Phillies salvaged a four-game series split against San Francisco and improved to 11-8 overall.
