The Commodores had one of the nation's toughest schedules last week and came out of that week in a great position to make Nashville a post-season host.

KNOXVILLE — Vanderbilt baseball took the series against Tennessee for the first time since 2021 with a 7-5 win at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Sunday. The Commodores (35-16, 15-11 SEC) and the Vols (39-12, 15-11) are both in contention to host an NCAA tournament regional. Whichever team wins the series will almost certainly host.

Following Tennessee's home series loss to Vanderbilt, the Vols' latest top 25 ranking was announced. Tennessee is ranked No. 14 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, down two spots from last week.
