Some cities canceled Cinco de Mayo celebrations this spring because of fear over immigration crackdowns, but not Saint Paul, Minnesota.

It was a sunny, warm day as thousands turned out to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in St. Paul on Saturday. In addition to a parade on Saturday, the Cinco de Mayo Festival on Cesar Chavez Street in the West Side neighborhood included live music, dancing, a car show and more fun that began on Friday.

Portsmouth Mayor Shannon Glover announced a new hotel for the city Friday at the site of his State of the City address, Rivers Casino. The new hotel, The Landing Hotel Portsmouth, is expected to open in about two years and, like the casino, be another driver to the city's economy.
