The jury sitting on the trial of the man accused of murdering Damien Heagney has been discharged by a senior judge. The remains of 47-year-old Mr Heagney were recovered from a reservoir in Cappagh in August 2022.

Jose Ibarra, the suspect in the slaying of Laken Riley, has agreed to a trial before a judge, ending a jury trial scheduled to begin Wednesday.

A man on Tuesday waived his right to a jury trial in the killing of a Georgia nursing student, a case that became a flashpoint in the national immigration debate.

Jose Ibarra, who is accused in the killing of Augusta University nursing student Laken Riley on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, appeared for a pretrial hearing Tuesday morning.
