Missouri's governor said Friday that he will call the Legislature into a special session to consider incentives aimed at keeping the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals from moving to Kansas.

The Missouri Senate’s more collegial atmosphere this year, after pointed infighting in recent years, collapsed on Wednesday. The Republican majority broke Democratic filibusters to place a new abortion ban before voters and passed a bill repealing sick leave protections approved by voters in November.

Gov. Mike Kehoe said Friday that he will call back lawmakers for a special session to consider a counteroffer that would keep both Kansas City teams in Missouri. He called it an economic development package.
