North Carolina plummeted to the absolute rock bottom of Mack Brown's tenure with Saturday afternoon's 70-50 loss, at home, to James Madison. This after the Tar Heels (3-1) entered as 10.5-point favorites against the Sun Belt Conference school that lost its coach and a majority of its impact starters in the offseason.

And boy have the Dukes passed the test with flying colors, as they blew the doors off the Tar Heels with a record-breaking first half that saw them score a school-record 53 points

James Madison entered 2-0; North Carolina was 3-0. Quarterback Alonza Barrett III threw three TD passes in the first half. He also rushed for two scores. JMU had two receivers over the 100-yard mark in the first 30 minutes.
