As the Florida Panthers continue their quest for a second straight Stanley Cup title, the entire organization is locked in. Florida is gearing up to have a few key, crucial players hit free agency, with center Sam Bennetter and defenseman Aaron Ekblad being the main ones.

According to multiple reports, the Panthers have talked to the representatives of free-agent safety Justin Simmons.

Second-year cornerback Chau Smith-Wade is making waves at Panthers’ training camp, earning high praise from teammates and coaches as he fights for a larger role in the secondary.

According to Joe Person of TheAthletic.com, the Panthers have been in touch with Simmons’ representation about potentially joining the team. But no signing is imminent at this time. That makes sense, as Carolina wrapped up its minicamp last week and training camp isn’t set to begin until late July.
