Fire damaged part of the Plaza Latina Bazaar on Harry Hines Boulevard in Northwest Dallas on Friday morning. More than 500 animals were killed due to smoke inhalation, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

DFR said more than 40 firefighters responded to the 2-alarm fire at Plaza Latina, which burned for about two hours before it was extinguished shortly after 11 a.m.
