The Food and Drug Administration has recalled three more lots of frozen shrimp over concerns the products may be contaminated with a radionuclide (Cesium-137). The recall applies to a limited quantity of Great Value frozen raw shrimp EZ-peel & deveined tail-on 21-25 per pound packages.

The retail giant has issued a multi-state recall for several lots of its Great Value frozen shrimp after the FDA flagged potential contamination with Cesium-137 — a radioactive byproduct most commonly associated with nuclear reactors and atomic bombs.

The Food and Drug Administration urged consumers to discard certain packages of frozen shrimp sold in 18 states. A food safety expert said the risk to the public was low.
