Scottie Scheffler joined two of the legends of the sport of golf in elite company after running away with the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow on Sunday.
Just when the leaderboard at the 107th PGA Championship was beginning to resemble a NASCAR pile up, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler stepped on the pedal and finished with three birdies and an eagle on the final five holes to open up a three-stroke lead.
Scheffler held Meredith in a long embrace and kissed his son, Bennett, on the 18th green. He grew emotional, wiping away tears after his third career major win, showing how much it meant to him.
Scottie Scheffler remained No. 1 on the World Golf Rankings. He ascended to first on the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup points list. And he won the season’s second major championship and his third overall at the PGA Championship on May 18 at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C.
