Texas HC Vic Schaefer took a moment to spotlight three Daily Texan students who travelled 16 hours to head to the SEC Tournament.

The Gamecocks are 17-1 in SEC Tournament games played in Greenville dating back to 2017, making Bon Secours Wellness Arena a home away from home of sorts. USC’s sole loss in that span came in the 2019 SEC quarterfinals against Arkansas.

Texas got its honors this week. But it fed its hunger as well. Texas’ Vic Schaefer was honored as the SEC Coach of the Year by his peers Tuesday, but he took some issue with the fact newly crowned SEC Player of the Year sophomore guard Madison Booker was the only Longhorn off the co-champion team named to the women's basketball all-conference team.

When you have to play them here two hours from campus, it’s a distinct advantage,” Schaefer said of playing South Carolina in Greenville.
