The pro-European Union candidate in Romania’s critical presidential runoff has won the closely-watched race against a hard-right nationalist.

The Pro-European Union centrist mayor of Bucharest, Nicusor Dan, has claimed victory in Romania's presidential run-off election over far-right nationalist candidate George Simion, who has conceded defeat.

Bucharest Mayor Nicusor Dan, who won the Romanian presidential election last weekend, answering a press question about the planned meetings with world leaders, emphasized the support of French President Emmanuel Macron and Moldovan President Maia Sandu.
