KCRG TV9 First Alert Storm Team's Justin Roberts has your New Year's Eve forecast including light snow, falling temps, and a warming weekend.
Looking ahead to the start of 2026, a gradual warming trend is expected. Highs will rebound into the 60s, with overnight lows returning to the 40s and 50s. This warmup will also bring a chance for a few rain showers and possibly some rumbles of thunder later in the week.
We are giving you the FIRST ALERT to a chilly evening, followed by another cold day Tuesday. After seeing a very nice weekend with highs in the upper 60s and even low 70s for Sunday, things took a tumble for your Monday as we had a front swing through, which dropped the temperatures substantially. Tonight will stay mostly cloudy.
Our FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY continues through this morning. Wind driven snow is ending across the area. The National Weather Service continues a Winter Storm Warning for into the afternoon. A Blizzard Warning also continues for Door County until 9am.
Winter-like temperatures are in place to end the year and will stay with us until we track your next round of rain this weekend.
After the snow has subsided, partly cloudy skies will continue into the first day of 2026. Thursday’s temperatures will be similar, with highs in the upper 30s and low 40s. Overnight lows are expected to drop to the upper 20s and low 30s.
Winds should decrease late tonight allowing temperatures to drop back into the low to mid 20s by Wednesday morning.
After breaking three record high temperatures last week, today will be a lot colder, with highs only in the 40s.
